She is 4

If this cake looks familiar, it is. I made the same one 365 days ago, and now, one year on, one year older, she still loves ballet and chose the same cake.

She is still feisty, loving, and stubborn, and now she is also confident, curious, funny, and full of energy. She is pure joy.

She loves ballet, LOL dolls (God help me) and her brother (most of the time). She is a true water baby and will spend hours in the pool but isn’t too sure about the ocean. She loves to help me bake but only if she can lick the bowl. She has two ‘cuddlies’ but now she is a big girl she has decided to just have one.

This past year has been a busy one – she has started kindy, joined the local athletics club, and learnt to ride a bike. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Last year I wrote about missing her when she started kindy, and now I just have one more year with her before she starts school. What will I do without my little shadow 😦

Her ballerina cake came from the awesome ‘The Great New Zealand Birthday Cake Book’ which both kids love looking through. I used a chocolate devils cake recipe for the cake, filled and covered with a pink buttercream. Candy floss makes up the tutu. Quick and easy, because who has time to muck around with cake decorating when it’s 27°C!

Happy birthday, darling Penelope x
